Le Manoir de Champfreau is available year round for weekly self-catering vacation rental and it is a superb setting for your wedding, anniversary or other special event.

A welcome basket awaits you upon arrival consisting of wine, bread, milk, butter, cheese, eggs, fruit and preserves.

Swimming Pool

Set in a private walled garden, this new 10 meter by 5 meter sapphire blue pool is exclusively for holiday renters. Bordered by a spacious stone terrace with wooden pool furniture, dining table, umbrella and chairs, with night lighting, the pool is perfect for a midnight dip. Solar heated shower, security gate and all pool towels provided.

Terrace

The elevated slate paved terrace (15 meters by 2.5 meters) is accessed by French doors from the Great Room. A table with 6 chairs, umbrella and teak wood furniture makes this southern exposed terrace a lovely extention to the Manoir. A perfect spot for coffee in the morning or a pastis in late afternoon.

Entrance Hall

Champfreau Manor foyer The walls, upholstered in deep red damask evoke Paris of the 19th century, very Napoleon III.

Straight ahead, a heavy oak table covered in Chinese blue and white porcelains, flanked by two huge Chinese Foo Dogs, announces that this in not your everyday holiday rental.

You will find fine antiques, old paintings and prints, wrought iron chandelier with candles and an 18th-century biblioteque with a large collection of coffee table books of châteaux, art, architecture and history in the entrance hall.

Kitchen

Champfreau Manor kitchen This large and delightful kitchen with double windows overlooks the walled garden.

Equipped with all new appliances: American style refrigerator/freezer (always with plenty of ice), dishwasher, microwave, toaster, electric tea kettle, coffee maker, CD/radio/cassette unit, and a four burner stove (both electric and gas) with an electric oven with a rotisserie.

Enjoy brousing throught the large collection of cookbooks covering the cuisines from around the world.

The kitchen is supplied with spices, herbs, olive oil and vinegars. There is a generous supply of glassware, dishes, cutlery and cookware. This kitchen is a joy to cook in.

The Great Room

This large room incorporates both the living room and dining area. On the far wall is a stupendous Gothic fireplace with wood supplied for your use. Champfreau Manor sitting/dining room

Massive ceiling beams supported by stone columns, thick stone walls hung with tapestries and ancestral portraits, marble floors strewn with beautiful Persian carpets evoke the romance of this ancient manoir.

There are down filled sofas, comfortable chairs, and a dining table that easily seats 8, with beautiful lighting throughout.

Large French doors open to the south facing terrace, set with table, chairs, and umbrella. Flower boxes dripping with lush flowers. A CD/cassette stereo with a large and varied collection of CDs, a satellite TV and a drawer full of board games supply extra entertainment.

Supplied is a large library of information on area sights, activities, maps, tourist information, restaurants and vinyards.

The Plum Bedroom – 4 Poster Bed with Ensuite Bathroom

Regal antique walnut canopy bed with plum velvet hangings, new matresse and box spring, pillows and linen. Champfreau Manor 4 poster bedroom A spacious bed between American queen-size and American double, plenty of room for 2.

There are two end tables with reading lamps, a huge antique armoire with full length dressing mirror and cabinets for clothing and toiletry storage.

There are three Chinese porcelain table lamps, antique Persian carpets on wall-to-wall coco matting, art work and always fresh flowers.

Truely a serene, romantic private chamber overlooking an expansive garden walled with limestone.

The bathroom is ensuite with the four poster Plum Bedroom. It has a spacious built in shower with strong water pressure. There is a toilet and a large sink and very good lighting. Shelves for toiletries. Electric wall heater to make the room comfy and plenty of sumptuous thick cotton towels.

The Tapestry Bedroom

Decorated in greens, blues and browns, this bedroom with its new American queen-size bed dressed in teal cut velvet, with floor to ceiling matching curtains overlooks the topiary court yard, with a southern exposure. Fitted with wall-to-wall coco matting and antique Persian rugs, this room is furnished in the "Gothic Taste" with tapestries and antique furniture. There are bedside tables with reading lamps.

Adjoining this room is the corner Turret Room used as a dressing room with an armoire. It has been returned to its original appearance as the Oratoire (Private Chapel) of the Manoir. The walls are a deep midnight blue and stenciled in gold, in the French style. The original Gothic stone window surround and loopholes exist to this day.

The Rose Bedroom

This beautiful bedroom has a southern exposure with a captivating view of the fortified enterance and topiary garden. The walls are upholstered in a delightful rose and green floral fabric with coordinating curtains and bed head. The bed, with a new American queen-size mattress, pillows and linen, is covered in a rich rose and gold brocade spread.

There is a large antique armoire for all your storage needs. This room is fitted with coco matting and accessorized with Persian rugs, fine antique paintings, prints and mirrors. Bedside tables with reading lamps, full length dressing mirrors and a selection of books (mostly mysteries) add to the comfort of the room. This bedroom shares the main bathroom with the Tapestry Bedroom.

There is also telephone and internet access. Truely a delightful space.

Bathroom with Tub and Shower

The Tapestry and Rose bedrooms share a roomy bathroom with a window overlooking the back walled garden. Enjoy the sumptuous deep claw-footed soaking tub with a shower. There is unlimited hot water and thick cotton towels. The bathroom sink has a large mirror and wall lights for perfect makeup as it is a well lit room. A hair dryer is supplied and there is ample storage for toiletries.

Telephone and Internet Access

There is telephone and internet access in the entrance hall and also in the Rose Bedroom at the manor house.

Utilities

There is a new washer and dryer for your use at the manor.

Gardens and Grounds

There are many rose bushes in the center courtyard and topiary trees.
